Homosexuality and Lobsters?

If you follow the homosexuality debate on the news, you will often hear someone slam the Bible because it says homosexuality is an abomination…along with eating shellfish. The basic angle is that because it is ‘ridiculous’ to say eating shellfish is an abomination to God, it is also equally as ridiculous to say that homosexuality is. After we placed our drink orders, Julie surprised me by saying, “Wes, I’m glad we got to meet today. I know you’re a spiritual guy and there’s something I’d like to talk to you about.” Wow! Let’s go, I thought. Then the hammer fell. She went on, “I have Christians in my office. They gossip; they don’t turn in their time cards on time. Why would I want to be one of those?”

What it takes: How can I know I have saving faith?

“I already believe that,” she said. But I wasn’t so sure.

She said she believed in Jesus. She accepted that she was a sinner-as God tells us we all are-and that Jesus died on the Cross for her sins. But there was something about her response that made me doubt. She didn’t seem moved in any way; it seemed like she accepted the facts about Jesus and that was it. Continue Reading »
