If you're thinking of sending your children to public schools…

We all think back on our childhood with some sense of fantasy, and we extend that fantasy to our own children as we imagine little Susie getting on the bus and going off to learn and grow and make friends and eat popsicles. But, my friends, this vision could not be further from the truth. A more apt analogy today comes from Pinnochio, who, only hours after his creation, was sent out the door to school…and who was the first person he met? Yes, you guessed it–the wolf!

Public education is public enemy number one for Biblical Christianity. This system destroys and undermines the faith of literally millions of Christian children, and the numbers support my bold conclusion. Up to 88% of children raised in Christian homes leave the church after high school and never come back.

Although I don’t have time to work through all the reasons this is true or to report the frightening things our children are learning in the classrooms and hallways of State run schools, I do want to point you to a place that can enlighten you to the ungodly realities of modern public education.

If you haven’t read, The Harsh Truth About Public Schools, by Bruce N. Shortt, I strongly recommend you do before you allow your children to spend another day in public school. (I just looked it up on Amazon and you can buy it by clicking here.) Also, spend some time on the website for the book at http://www.harshtruth.blogspot.com/.

I know you’ve got that uncomfortable feeling in your stomach right now. You’d rather continue safely unaware of what is really going on than face the frightening truths that lie just ahead; but I implore you, in the name of Jesus Christ and for the glory and continuation of His kingdom, step forward and learn the uncomfortable truth. It will save you–and your children–in the end.

Great Reasons to be Optimistic

“Wall Street Freefall” was recently the lead story on the internet. If it isn’t Wall Street, it’s home mortgages; if not mortgages, it’s the election; if it’s not the election…well, you get my point.

The bad news is not hard to come by, but are all these bad things really that bad for us?

I would say No! In fact, I believe the things that are going on now are actually very good and should encourage us as Christians. Let me explain.

The End of Crises or Just the Beginning?

What will it take to get our attention?

God is bombarding our nation with spiritual signs, but we let them pass us by.[1] Crisis after crisis comes, yet we continue unaffected. We fashion ourselves a favored nation; we end our political speeches with ‘God bless America.’ But is God showing us His favor?

Think about the plagues of the last 12 months alone. The energy crisis gives us $4 a gallon gasoline; wars in Iraq and Afghanistan linger at the cost of billions; floods, hurricanes, droughts, and fires ravage our lands. What will it be next?

And don’t think the financial crisis making headlines this week will go away anytime soon.

How foolish we are. Major financial institutions are failing not because of a lack of regulation, but because of the greed of our people, the greed of corporations to fatten the bottom line and the greed of me and you to have the biggest house and nicest car on the block. So, to ensure we don’t have to suffer for our evil and foolishness, we cover it up with billions of dollars of more borrowed money, much of which comes from foreign powers.[2]

The Right Use of Your Noggin

When should we let our brains decide what is true about the world? After all, God gave us a brain (I know this is debatable, but allow me some latitude here), and it is only natural that He wants us to use it. Nobody could argue with this.

Credible Copy or Crooked Conspiracy? Part 1

[This is Part 1 of a 2-part article.]

”The Bible is a product of man, my dear. Not of God. The Bible did not fall magically from the clouds. Man created it as a historical record of tumultuous times…and it has evolved through countless translations, additions, and revisions. History has never had a definitive version of the book.”[1]
